What is Martinism?
Essentially, Martinism is a Western Christian mystical path, founded in the 18th century in France, that concerns itself with the reintegration of the individual with the Divine.
This is achieved through spiritual alchemy which include :prayer, inner discipline, moral chivalry, contemplation, theurgy, and wisdom.
Martinism has 3 major methods of achieving reintegration and 3 major contributors :
1 Martinism developed into a form of mystical, theurgical or ritual magical practices (Elus Cohens of Martinez de Pasqually (1727–1774)),
2.a philosophical or internal system (Way of the Heart of Louis Claude de Saint-Martin (1743–1803), “the Unknown Philosopher”), and
3.the Rectified Scottish Rite (C.B.C.S.) developed by Jean-Baptiste Willermoz(1730–1824) which blends Elus Cohen Martinist philosophy with Masonic/Knight Templar structure.
These involved the quest to attain the exalted level of that of the first created man(Adam), prior to his fall. The Order of Christ Knights is a Martinist order with rich lineage ,that consists of a comprehensive Martinist spiritual experience with the three transmissions and methods, organized into an outer mystical/Chilvaric order with 3 degrees(Ordre Martiniste Initiatique) and Inner Operative Order (Elus Cohen).
